About Me

Elliot Dy

Mechanical Engineer | Researcher | Builder

I am a senior at Boston University studying mechanical engineering with a concentration in aerospace.

I grew up in Essex, Vermont with a love for math in school. I always knew I wanted to be an engineer since kindergarten. My curiosity and passion for building led me to study engineering at Boston University. I’m excited to solve more problems and continue expanding my skills.

Substitute Teaching

I took a gap year after high school and worked as a paraeducator and substitute teacher at an elementary school. This has been one of my favorite experiences, and I felt that I learned alongside my students. I enjoy the classroom dynamic and the community created with all the students and other teachers.

Travel

I studied abroad in Grenoble, France and traveled to Spain, Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Morocco. It was my first time traveling internationally and I learned a lot from experiencing new cultures and perspectives.

Golf

Golf is one of my favorite hobbies. I enjoy the balance between patience and consistency, and the constant improvement that comes from practice at the range and on the course.

A Little More

I like work that keeps me thinking

I enjoy the problem solving side of engineering and applying what I learn in class to real situations

I take school seriously and focus on building skills that carry into real-world engineering work. I’m excited to keep learning and take on more complex challenges in professional settings.
